During my time at YouScience I also helped produce a book from a partner to the company. I designed the cover for the book, oversaw the layout, crated a marketing site, and helped to independently publish the book on Amazon in print and kindle. This was my first time publishing in this way but I was able to learn the process quickly and help make this project a success.
A fun challenge to balance with other duties
I have always had a soft spot for book design, I got my BFA with a focus in digital and print publishing, so to be able to have this opportunity to create a book as a part of my day job was a dream come true. I worked with the author to create its own micro brand for the book and a cover that captured what they were looking for. I was able to do this project and keep delivering on my other high priority tasks. This book and site were made to be a lead engine and propel the author on his way to speak at conferences. Because of my limited time to work on this project and tight deadline of one month I opted to outsource the interior layout to the printer’s designer and was able to get that done within two revision cycles. I handled the cover, Amazon direct publishing, and the micro site.
